May 9th

University of Miami has offered highly touted Fontana, Ca. outside linebacker and Gridironstuds.com member Josh Shirley.   Shirley has offers from California, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Washington.

Top 2010 Linebacker recruit and Gridronstuds.com member Chris Martin has transferred from Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland California to Hun School of Princeton (New Jersey) for his senior year. Martin is a Notre Dame commit. Full story.

2010 cornerback recruit and Gridironstuds.com member Cody Riggs is the Florida State 3-A champ in the Long Jump (23-5.5) and 300 meter hurdles (36.60). Riggs also took 2nd in the 110 hurdles to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to the state 3-A track title.

May 8th

Highly recruited North Gwinnett H.S. (Georgia) offensive tackle JaWuan James has committed to Alabama. James is also being recruited by USC, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee.

No, this is not a recording, another University of Tennessee football player has decided to transfer. Wide receiver Tyler Maples becomes the 2nd player this week and the 11th player overall to beat a path out of Knoxville since Lane Kiffen has become head coach. To quote a hall of fame football coach… “what the hell is going on out there!”

SoFlafootball.com reports that the University of Tennessee was not allowed on campus at Pahokee high school during a recent attempted recruiting visit.

Washington D. C. dual threat quarterback, Ricardo Young chose Virginia Tech as his school yesterday.

Delray Beach (Atlantic H.S.) dual threat QB Mark Leal also announced his commitment to Virginia Tech yesterday. Hmmm very interesting. We will watch this development as it unfolds.

May 7th

Gators and Noles are sitting high upon Miami Booker T. Washington High School’s and Gridironstuds.com member Lynden Trail’s list. Trail was really excited about his USC offer. Trail has announced a top 10 in the past of Miami, Fla, Florida St., Georgia, Alabama, South Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and South Carolina. Of course, that was before the offers from Florida and USC came rolling in.

Norco High School (California) running back Deantre Lewis has committed to Arizona St. Lewis is the 2nd running back to commit to Dennis Erickson’s Sun Devils. The other was Chandler Arizona’s Taylor Walstad.

May 6th

Highly recruited Washington D.C. and Woodson High School quarterback Ricardo Young is set to name his school of choice on Thursday. Young’s finalist are Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, U.Conn, Louisville, Syracuse and Michigan St.

Glades Central, FL running back Antwon Chisholm has been suspended for their spring game against Miami Central later this month for his involvement in a brawl at the Wellington Mall in April. Chisholm was charged with pulling a knife on a mall security guard during the incident. Chisholm’s coach, Jesse Hester, says Chisholm is a kid that’s rarely in trouble. He is being recruited by Georgia, West Virginia and Rutgers.

Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback and Gridironstuds.com member Cody Riggs has a top three of Notre Dame, Georgia and Tennesee.

Ohio St. has offered Detroit Southeastern High School defensive end and Gridironstuds.com member William Gholston.

Report is that Alabama has offered Miami Palmetto High School’s defensive end Delvin Jones a scholarship. Jones has a top 3 of Florida, USC and Oregon. Full story.

May 5th

University of Florida commit Michael McFarland, a 6’5″ wide receiver from Tampa’s Middleton High School may be a little shaky on that Gator commit. He has recently said that though he’s committed to Florida, he still wants to take some official visits to make sure.

Florida coach Urban Meyer thinks the NCAA should do something about the Auburn stretch limo parade. Says “we’re trying to sell graduations rates and academics.” Full story.

Tenth player leaves University of Tennessee under coach Lane Kiffen. According to Knoxville News Sentinel, sophomore wide receiver Ahmad Paige is the latest to leave the Vols.

Minnesota Gophers football lose three scholarships after Academic Progress Report falls below NCAA minimum standards. Minnesota is first Big Ten program to lose scholarships due to this sanction. “Academincs have plummted under head coach Tim Brewster,” says Athletic Director Joel Maturi.

May 4th

North Broward Prep RB and Oregon commit Ethan Grant is the Florida State Champ in the 100 meter hurdles after photo finish this past weekend. Grant came through the tape at 14.64.

Inkster High School (Detroit, MI) quarterback and Gridironstuds.com member Devin Gardner took home M.V.P. honors at the Cincinnati Scout Combine this weekend.
