Baltimore City College High School WR and Gridironstuds.com member Adrian Coxson has committed to Penn St. He is also being recruited by the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Georgia and Pittsburgh.

LSU head coach Les Miles says he will use Twitter during games this Fall. Full story.

Word is top defensive back prospect and Gridironstuds.com member Cody Riggs was put off by the lack of interest showed by Ohio St. during his recent trip to the spring game this past weekend.

Highly recruited Cincinnati Elder tight-end and Gridironstuds.com member Alex Welch has been offered by the University of Michigan. Welch also has offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida State, Stanford, UC, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Bowling Green, Boston College, Wake Forest, Maryland, Northwestern, North Carolina State and Indiana

Indiana University has dismissed record setting quarterback Kellen Lewis from the football team for undisclosed rules violation. Lewis was a 2nd team All-Big 10 selection in 2007 and holds the school record for completions and touchdowns (48).

Pahokee H.S. (Florida) wide receiver and Gridironstuds.com member DeJoshua Johnson has narrowed his choices down to three: Florida St., Alabama and Oklahoma St. in no particular order. Johnson eliminated Michigan, Florida, West Virginia and any other team running a spread offense after watching this past weekend’s NFL draft. “I don’t want to play in the spread offense. I’ve seen how it affected receivers in the NFL draft,” Johnson is quoted as saying the Palm Beach Post. Auburn, USC and Miami have a distant chance at the wide receiver prospect. Johnson currently holds over 30 offers.

Gridironstuds.com member and Virginia H.S. linebacker Aramide Olaniyan continues to be hot since committing to Duke. South Carolina was the latest to offer him a scholarship today.

Palm Beach county football fans remain up in arms about the transfer of Chris Dunkley from Royal Palm Beach to Pahokee high school and they want something done about the ease at which players can transfer from school to school. It seems after a rash of senior transfers in the state of Florida this year, this one has taken people over the edger.

Douglas H.S. (Florida) linebacker and Gridironstuds.com member Justin Birkenholz opened some eyes this weekend putting up a 4.53 forty yard dash at the Elite Scouting Services Combine along with sporting 20 more pounds of muscle packed on since the end of last season. He’s a prospect to keep an eye on.

Florida head coach Urban Meyer is pissed at criticism directed at the program by some former players most notably Shane Matthews. Here’s a quote from Meyer. “We want former Gators to come back, but loyalty’s a two-way street. If you want to be critical of a player on our team or a coach on our team you can buy a ticket for seat 37F, you’re not welcome back in the football office.” Tough words indeed.

April 28th

Top 100 wide receiver and Gridironstuds.com member Chris Dunkley will transfer from Royal Palm Bay High School to Pahokee. That puts him in Gator territory. It also allows up and coming Royal Palm Beach wide receiver and Gridironstuds.com member Jared Dangerfield to shine.

Physical 2010 cornerback prospect and Gridironstuds.com member Tony Grimes just landed offers from Texas Tech and Ole Miss.

Former University of Miami quarterback Robert Marve is headed to Purdue according to reports. So much for staying close to home for this Tampa, Florida native.

SoFlaFootball.com reports that standout wide receiver and Gridironstuds.com member Chris Dunkley decided against attending Ohio St.’s spring game this weekend because “he just didn’t feel like going.” So much for that rumor out there about him being a soft commit.

University of Michigan commit and Gridironstuds.com member Devin Gardner allegedly burns letter from Ohio St. and puts it on the Internet. Just another chapter in that War.

Ohio safety and Gridironstuds.com member Latwan Anderson reiterated his love of West Virginia in a recent talk with Gridironstuds.com. “Thats place is the bomb! It’s not really big but not too small. The people are great and the team is sick! I loved it! He didn’t say as much but I am guessing that WVU is the front runner and other schools are going to have to step their game up if they want to get this kid on their campus.

Quarterback B.J. Coleman will be leaving the University of Tennessee football team and will transfer to another school. Coleman felt he wasn’t being given a fair shot to compete for the starting quarterback job. Coleman is the ninth player to leave Tennessee since Lane Kiffen became coach, opening up some schollies for next year’s recruiting class.

There’s a story out there that Gridironstuds.com member Jake Heaps was snubbed by ESPN’s recruiting service for failing to switch his commitment from the Army All-American game to the Under Armour All Star game which takes place on the same day. If true, shame on you ESPN!

  1. Lets see. Three of the top WR’s are from spread offenses. Wut is this guy talking about?

  2. The analysts were kind of tough on spread offenses throughout the day and I can see how that would have spooked a teenager thinking about where to go to college. I don’t know how legit that fear is. It will help if Maclin, Crabtree and Harvin rip it up in the NFL. If they bomb, all the talking heads will blame it on the spread offense.

  3. What does he think Ok St. runs??? They are a spread OPTION team! Even worse!
