The University of Miami landed a top recruit they were really after on Friday Night as University School (Florida) defensive end, David Perry committed to “The U’. Perry migrated from Jamaica to South Florida in 2008 and made an immediate impact for the Suns despite playing football for the first time. Perry’s 6’6″ 235 lb. frame and freakish athleticism posed a tough matchup for his high school counterparts. It wasn’t long before he caught the eye of many of the top football programs in the country. In the end it came down to Miami, Florida and LSU for Perry. Perry chose Miami because of their classroom sizes, family type atmosphere and business program. Perry’s commitment may close out the defensive end position for the Hurricanes for the 2010 class. The Canes had Hialeah H.S. (Florida) defensive end Corey Lemonier on their list but it’s a mystery as to what will happen there.

Today’s video of the day comes out of the Muck and Belle Glade, FL. Glades Central QB Leron Thomas is flying under the radar but that’s not likely to last long. Plenty of college football programs travel down to the 4.7 square mile area in the southern region of Florida to stock their rosters with the highest concentrated area of talent in the country. There’s little chance that they will miss the skills of Thomas who made an impact leading Glades Central to the playoffs. Watch the bombs come raining down on the opposition in this highlight tape as he makes use of the speedy wide receivers and his rocket arm. Thomas athleticism makes him a threat to hurt you when things break down but make no mistake, Thomas can sit in the pocket and whiz it. Notice him putting the ball on the money and fitting it into tight spots. View Leron Thomas’ highlight video.

Today’s video of the Day comes from the West Coast and Los Angeles, California. Inglewood High School Tight End Marcus Howard is a specimen. A 6’2″ 255 lb tight end that can move, has good hands and can find the end zone. Howard was one of several key parts to a great Ingelwood offense that also featured Shaquelle Evans (Notre Dame) and current QB Brandon Summers. Check out Howard’s big plays.
