10/28/10: Video of the Day: Quinton Sullivan -WR- Harrisburg H.S. (Pennsylvania)

October 28th, 2010

Well you know we are all about prospects and Quinton Sullivan is certainly one to take a look at.  Sullivan is a 6’0″ 180 lb. wide receiver with good speed,  solid instincts and great play making ability.  You will be entertained watching this prospect do his thing on the gridiron hauling in passes and turning them into six.  He can make the catch in traffic and he can also take the short one and turn it into a 50,60,70 yard touchdown.  Sullivan can also go get the deep ball which makes him a threat to do damage all over the field.  Check this one out and get ready to see attention coming his way.  Click here to view Quinton Sullivan’s highlight video.

10/26/10: Video of the Day: Justin Cooper – LB – University School – Ft. Lauderdale, FL

October 26th, 2010

Guys like Justin Cooper is why coaches and referees tell you to buckle up your chin strap.  From the word go,  Cooper’s film is a journey through the land of violence that is tackle football.  Cooper roams around the field looking for someone to hit and usually satisfies that goal.  Clip after clip shows Cooper getting into someone and bringing the pain.  He also makes plays in coverage too and blows up lead blockers as well.  It’s linebacking 101 for the young players out there that want to play the position.  Enjoy watching this one.  Click here to view Justin Cooper’s highlight video.

10/07/10 Video of the Day: Isaac Bailey – CB/RB – Nature Coast Tech, Brooksville, FL

October 7th, 2010

Another year,  another group of Nature Coast Tech studs.  Ja’Juan Story has grabbed most of the headlines but it’s time to make way from another serious game breaking prospect by the name of Isaac Bailey.  Check his resume and his highlight video.  Bailey is consistently carrying the ball from coast to coast.  Big play after big play comes on the feet of Bailey as he gashes defense with his slashing runs,  destroys opponents’ field position with amazing punt returns and becomes a general menace to quarterbacks with interceptions.   All over the field,  Bailey lurks ready to ruin the other teams’ plans.  Nature Coast remains undercover but that is changing everyday with the patch of athletes they are producing and Bailey is certainly one of them.  Click here to view Isaac Bailey’s highlight video.

10/05/10: Video of the Day: Steve Finley OT – Harrisburg H.S., Harrisburg, PA

October 5th, 2010

It’s moving day in Harrisburg, PA whether you like it or not if you are a Harrisburg H.S. opponent.  Your destination if you are lined up in front of Steve Finley is wherever he feels like leaving you after the ball is snapped.  It starts in the trenches as they say and Finley owns his side of the line.  Defensive ends and blitzing linebackers get to see the quarterback but they don’t get to touch him if they are trying to enter through the left side of the Harrisburg line.  Finley is like a locked door and opponents are crowding the hallway trying to get in.  Finley is a major reason why the Cougars are 4-1 on the season and looking to great things.  He’s flying under the radar at the moment but that won’t be for long.  6’3″ 280 lb. vicious linemen are like batteries during a hurricane,  they don’t stay on the shelves long.  Click here to view Steve Finley’s highlight video courtesy of easternparecruits.com.

Video of the Day: Jaucady Rutledge – WR/DB – George Jenkins H.S. (Florida)

July 15th, 2010

If you have made your fair share of visits to Gridironstuds.com over the last year and a half you know that undiscovered talents are the norm on this site.  Jaucady Rutledge is another one of those talents.  Rutledge’s highlight video is choc-full of great catches,  nifty runs and solid feats of athleticism.  His impact is felt in all three phases of the game (offense, defense and special teams).  His big play ability leaps out at you as he can make the big catch, the pick, the great return or even the big hit.  The Gridiron is his playground and Rutledge plays hard.  He’s a player that should be getting more attention than he is currently receiving.  Click here to view Jaucady Rutledge’s highlight video.

5/11/10 Video of the Day: Tommy Padavick – DL – Geneva H.S. (Ohio)

May 11th, 2010

Tommy Padavick is not your ideal size for a defensive lineman but he brings more than your ideal production.  Talk about hard to block!  Padavick is what F-bombs from offensive coordinators are made of.  One minute he’s swimming your best lineman and dancing into your backfield,  the next minute he’s standing up a double team and clogging up the middle.  A great get off, lightning quickness and good technique make Tommy a major pain in the arse.  You’ll have fun watching him ruin play after play if you are into that kind of thing.  If you are offensive minded,  you won’t enjoy this film and Padavick breaks down play after play.  He’s a valuable asset to the defensive unit and a person that requires a double team.   Padavick used his skills to earn all District,  All County and State of Ohio special mention honors in 2009.   He came away with 63 tackles, seven sacks and one safety.  On offense he reacked up 1,002 yards rushing with 15 TDs while averaging 5.7 yards per carry.  View Tommy Padavick’s highlight video, click here now.

5/10/10: Video of the Day: Ronnie Daniels – RB – La Cueva H.S. (NM)

May 10th, 2010

College football talent typically is not nested in the state of New Mexico but there’s an outstanding talent in this corner of the U.S. that everyone’s been talking about.  In all fairness,  La Cueva High School running back Ronnie Daniels is originally from Texas but it doesn’t matter what part of the Earth he’s from,  the kid can tote the football.  From the first few clips,  you will be instantly reminded of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.  Daniels runs with that same kind of wreckless abandon and disregard for body.   Daniels hits the hole hard and grabs yards in a hurry.  You will love the way he breaks tackles,  keeps the play alive and makes something out of nothing.   California, Minnesota, New Mexico and New Mexico St. all agree and have offered Daniels scholarships already.   More are sure to follow.  View Ronnie Daniels’ highlight video, click here.

5/07/10: Video of the Day: Lance Baretz – QB – Franklin H.S. (Wisconsin)

May 7th, 2010

Spread offenses are all the craze now not only in college football but in high school and youth football as well.   Not all spread option QB’s are the same and not all spread offense quarterbacks should be spread offense QBs.   You can’t say that about Franklin High School’s Lance Baretz.  Milwaukee is not known as a hotbed for college football talent but there are some players in this area and Baretz is one of them.  Early on in his highlight video,  you will notice his athleticism.  He runs the shotgun option plays with precision and is a dangerous ball carrier.  He also has a live arm and throws the deep ball very well.   Along with that, Baretz is pretty good throwing on the run which makes him difficult to defend.  Baretz can throw from the pocket,  throw on the run and can certainly pull the ball down for big yardage.  If you are a high school defensive coordinator dealing with that,  you will stay up late every night the week you are playing Franklin H.S.  Baretz reminds me a lot of Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka who who had a very successful senior season for the Wildcats in 2009.  Baretz passed for 2,339 yards and 21 TDs last season along with rushing for 784 yards and 11 TDs.   Click here to view Lance Baretz’s highlight video.

Video of the Day: Cedric Walker – RB – Gulliver Prep H.S. (FL)

May 4th, 2010

Explosive is a word used often to describe  some of the top skilled position talent in a recruiting classin any given year.  Perhaps it’s a word that is overused a bit but not in this case.  The first word that will come out of your mouth when you click play on Cedric Walker’s video is that often used word “explosive”.  Put the ball in his hands and watch the yards get gobbled up quick fast and in a hurry.  Whether it’s taking a hand off on the zone read play,  taking a swing pass out of the backfield, making an interception or returning a kick,  Cedric Walker is going to hurt the opposition and do it so fast it will make your head spin.  Walker is listed at 4.4 in the 4o yard dash and it’s one of those times you can certainly believe.  Walker shows the ability to play as fast or even faster than stopwatch says.  His video is one you will enjoy watching and it’s likely to be one that you watch more than once.  He is,  in my opinion,  one of the most underrated backs in the State of Florida for 2011.  In 2009 he put up over 1,200 total yards.  Here’s to hoping that things do not stay that way.  Click here to view Cedric Walker’s highlight video.

4/27/10: Video of the Day: Cole Naone – TE – Lake Oswego H.S. (OR)

April 27th, 2010

Admittedly,  we don’t get a lot of tight end submissions to Gridironstuds.com so forgive me for getting really excited about this one.  However,  I have been around football long enough to know a good player when I see one and Cole Naone is a solid football player.  A tight end can be a quarterback’s best friend but Naone is the best friend of the running backs and wide receivers too.  Along with his great pass catching ability,  Naone shows his worth as blocker on his highlight video.  Not only does he provide great pass protection when called on to do so but Naone has done well to implement the techniques he has been taught in blocking the run game.  Football junkies will see the value in how Naone positions himself, runs his feet and gains leverage on his opponent to make an effective block.  He also displays the tenacity to dole out some knock out blocks too.  Naone is a complete package and this includes making plays from the defensive end spot on defense.  He packs all of this into a 6’3″ 210 lb. frame with good strength and speed numbers.  There’s little wonder why Oregon, Oregon St., Air Force and Idaho are coming after him.  Certainly more will follow.  View Cole Naone’s highlight video, click here.
