3-17: Video of the Day: Chris Badger – Provo, Utah

March 17th, 2009

Today’s video of the day comes out of Provo, Utah. It’s our second video of the day this month from the state of Utah because we have another hard hitting defensive back. Safety Chris Badger plays at one speed and that’s 100 m.p.h. Outside of Jeff Luc, this kid’s video has to be next in line for some serious hitting. Badger has that uncanny ability to hit through the ball carrier ala John Lynch and Ronnie Lott. He has a nose for the football and gets there in a hurry. He committed to Stanford recently and will help coach Jim Harbaugh return the Cardinal to respect in the Pac-10. Chris Badger’s highlight video.

Robey Clocks Fastest Nike Combine 40 Time this Year

March 17th, 2009

Junior cornerback Anthony Robey clocked the fastest 40 time of the year at a NIKE Camp when he came through the line at 4.33 seconds. The 5’9″ 163 lb. Norristown High School product was one of only two participants to go under 4.5 seconds at the event.  He was an all Suburban One League selection as a WR last season but has drawn little interest from schools to this point.  Perhaps his accomplishments at this combine can shine a light on him his senior year.

Here are the top 40 time results from the Philadelphia NIKE combine, courtesty of ESPN.com)

Jeff Luc’s Meteoric Rise Continues

March 12th, 2009

No 2010 recruit has risen faster through the rankings and the consciousness of fans and colleges than Treasure Coast’s Jeff Luc. Wednesday saw Luc reach another great honor when Rivals.com gave him their highest rating of 5 stars, named him the top linebacker in the country and ranked him the 10th overall prospect for the Class of 2010.

No one can resist the bone crushing highlight video that made national attention when it appeared on Gridironstuds.com. Since then, Luc has fielded offer after offer from colleges around the country and has now been put in the elite class by Rivals.com. Luc totaled 119 tackles, 19 for a loss, recorded nine sacks and had two interceptions in 2008. However, it’s not Luc’s stats that have gained him attention,  it’s the way he got into the soul of his opponents. Seastrunk, Joyner and Luc Make Rivals Top 100

March 12th, 2009

Wednesday saw the official release of the Rivals Top 100 list for Class of 2010. Included in the Top 10 were three Gridironstuds.com members. Running back Lache Seastrunk, Defensive Back Lamarcus Joyner and Linebacker Jeff Luc all made the top 10.

All three players were ranked the top players at their position. Seastrunk’s back to back 1,500 yard seasons for Temple High School in Texas has earned him dozens of offers and a #2 ranking by Rivals. Many schools are in the running including Florida, Miami, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and USC. Rumors have it that Seastrunk will stay at home and play for the Longhorns while other rumors say that LSU is the front runner.

#7 ranked Joyner’s speed and aggression has made him a menace for opponents and highly sought after by BCS college football teams. Joyner’s list of offers reads like a who’s who of college football with Alabama, Florida, Florida St., Miami and West Virginia all making a play for the solid prospect. Joyner’s move to St. Thomas Aquinas High School will likely give him more opportunities to slide up the rivals 100 list. Treasure Coast linebacker Jeff Luc rounded out the top 10 with a five star rating.
