South Florida Express 7-on-7 team took to the field at University School in Davie on Monday :
Ivan “Sticks” McCartney impressed with solid route running and good hands. QB’s Jeffrey Godrey (Miami Central High), Brandon Dougherty (North Broward Prep) and Michael Strauss (Gulliver Prep) took the reps at quarterback. WR Willis Wright suffered an injury to his shoulder during drills. WVU bound Eugene Smith was on hand to help out the offense and support his former Miramar High teammate McCartney. Smith played with South Florida Express last season in the 7-on-7 tournament at the University of South Florida.
DB’s Lamarcus Joyner, Richard Clarke and Tony Grimes were also on hand providing coverage on the wideouts. Clarke is a rising star after a great showing at the Under Armor Combine on Sunday. Dr. Krop’s Darius Davis impressed running stride for stride with speedy athletes like Ethan Grant (North Broward Prep) while in coverage.
